NIBSS Direct Debit (NDD) is a data repository for financial and non-financial mandate instructions as well as other affiliated services issued by a subscriber to a biller, service provider or an institution.

How it works
NDD features a calendar system that determines when a mandate instruction is due for activation through an initial setup by a subscriber and an institution. Mandates could either be in a paper or electronic form.
Direct Debit (NDD) facilitates the remote debiting of bank account triggered through CMMS; this is pre-configured based on the following mandate type;
- Fixed Mandate – fixed amounts and frequencies of debits to the subscriber’s bank account(s).
- Global Standing Instruction – for recovery of defaulted funds from multiple bank accounts, using the subscribers’ BVN
- Variable Mandate – for variable amounts and/or frequencies of debits to a subscriber’s bank account(s).

(7) Can I Debit clients several times on a mandate set?
Yes.
Based on what is agreed in the mandate, the institution can debit several times; within the stipulated amount to recover the full amount that was mandated for debit.
(8) Does the service allow users to debit part of the amount mandated by the customer when the full amount is unavailable?
Yes. Institutions can configure the service to debit in part in the event the full amount the customer has mandated for debit is unavailable.
(9) What is the pricing and income benefit for the bank?
Customers are allowed to mark-up fees for the service. The NIBSS cost for a successful Direct debit transaction is N30
